Important Information
Volunteer Orientation
Notes
All volunteers working at Suntree are reminded to sign-in at the front desk using the Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) database. By signing in as a volunteer, your hours are logged. Please remember to sign-out at the end of your volunteering session. Failure to log out will result in only 30 minutes being applied to your hours. We truly appreciate your assistance.
If you have worked on volunteer activities while the VIPS system was not available to you, please complete a log sheet and return it to our front office staff. This will ensure that you are credited with the time you have given to Suntree Elementary School.

Listed Volunteers
If you are volunteering at Suntree and will be around the company of other adults while you are with children, you do not have to be fingerprinted. However, you will still need to enter your information into the Volunteers in Public Schools database (VIPS) at the office to become a listed Volunteer.
Registered Volunteers
If you are a parent, grandparent, or guardian going on a field trip or any other school event where you will be alone with children at any given point, you must be electronically fingerprinted as a registered volunteer.
Registered volunteer fingerprints are good for three full years from time of fingerprinting.
A $56.00 fee via personal check or money order is due at time of fingerprinting. You may also pay via credit card; however you will be charged the full $61.00 fee.
Checks or Money Orders need to be made out to the School Board of Brevard County.
No starter checks will be allowed, proper information must be pre-printed on check, i.e. name, address, etc.
Please make sure that before going to District Security at the Educational Services Facilty in Viera that you use the Volunteers in Public Schools database (VIPS) in Suntree's office and enter all information (some new fields have been added, so you may need to update).
A valid driver's license or state identification is also required at time of fingerprinting.
