Jump Rope For Heart![]() This week of February 14th, 2011, Suntree Elementary Students are participating in Jump Rope For Heart lessons during Physical Education. These events are held at schools nationwide and not only help students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also raise funds to support vital research and education initiatives that save lives in our community. Congenital heart defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. Many children are alive today because of treatments not available even 10 years ago and each of us knows someone who has suffered from heart disease or stroke - it can affect anyone at any age. Funded research and advancements have changed and saved their lives! If your family cares to make a donation it will benefit the American Heart Association. The students will be jumping and learning to become more heart healthy during their P.E. classes. Childhood obesity is an epidemic and the number of overweight kids and adolescents is growing at a rapid pace. Jump Rope For Heart is an educational and fun way to teach the students to begin to take the steps toward living a heart healthy life and perhaps prolonging and saving their own lives in the future. Family and friends are welcome to support The American Heart Association by making contributions in the envelope or by going online. We ask that children not go door-to-door or ask strangers for donations. Supporters can donate online at http://www.heart.org/jump where your child may set up their own webpage to accept donations. Should your family choose to contribute, the collection envelope that each student receives may be turned in to the box on the patio on or before February 28th, 2011. Thank you in advance for your support of this great cause. |
